Rules for the Game Consetration =============================== A fun family game based on /Concentration/, but using the /Set/ deck of cards! Requirements ------------ - 2 or more players, any of the 97 genders may play, as the rules are neutral; - a shortened (27 cards) deck of 'Set' cards; - a table large enough for 27 cards, plus winnings piles; - 10-20 minutes. Objective --------- To collect the most sets. Setup ----- Restrict the deck to just 27 cards which all share one attribute property, for example, just the cards with one symbol on, just the cards with diamonds, just the cards with hollow symbols, or just the blue cards. Shuffle the cards and lay them out in a grid on the table face down. Play ---- In turns around the table, the players turn up and announce three cards. If those cards form a pure set (see variants), the player gets to keep them as winnings, and may go again. A turn ends by the player turning the revealed cards back over. At any point, any player may announce that there are no more makeable sets. If correct, their reward is to add all the remaining cards to their winnings pile. If wrong, the punishment is harsh: every possible set that remains, which may include overlaps, removes one set from the miscreant's winnings pile, and every remaining card, including ones used in punishment sets, removes one card from their winnings pile. Variants -------- 1) Solo play, where you count the number of turns you take 2) Impure mode - you may only collect impure sets, not pure ones 3) Wild mode - you may collect any set, as defined by the original 'Set' game 4) Hero mode - use more than just a third of the deck (you don't have to use all 81) Drinking Perversions for Winkers -------------------------------- 1) Drink a fine on either success or failure. 2) At the end of the game, drink a fine proportional to the winnings deficit. 3) Incorrect announcements of no remaining sets invoke a fine, one finger per set plus one wafeur per card.
